DNB UNITED MOVIE NIGHT/BOXPARK BANGERS & MASHUPS WITH DANNY BYRD OF HOSPITAL RECORDS.
As long time follower of Hospital recordsI I am excited for Decembers special release NHS 300. This will be one for the gift list for sure mates. After the incredible 300th podcast we celebrated this past summer at the Work bar in Angel hosted live by Toney Coleman himself I wasn’t sure what would be next to top that event in Hospitals history of DNB.London Elektricty aka Tony Coleman last release “Are we there yet” was another mega release with a special vinyl edition that arrived with all the bells and whistles including super kewl artwork and a map.Did I mention a map? Ok just checking...My point is Hospital records continues to be anything but a one trick pony. Always raising the bar for the institution of drum and bass as a whole is a hallmark of the labels public outreach if you will. They just launched a Hot air ballon that you can take a ride in while drinking a Hospital records very own brew. Building a brand is one thing and then there is going beyond for you love of drum and bass. I have grown up listening to Hospital records since Tony and Chris Goss launched the label in the 90’s. The early artists have grown and matured along with the label. I could talk about each one for in length. Like all DNB fans ,producers and fans we have been there since the early days have seen the artists evolve with the genre.Danny Byrd is one of the original 5.Danny has been a real inspiration to me in so many ways. As a producer, artist, dj and pioneer of the genre since the very early days of inception.I love the opportunity to find out as much as I can about each artist I follow from the releases as well as print and video. One of the things I like to do when taking a break from recording myself is finding any rare videos or tutorials of the artist may have done and share them with our audience.I did some research and found some great videos featuring Mr. Byrd up close and personal. With that said grab yourself a pint and kick back its DNB United's movie night“Bangers & Mashups”with drum+bass pioneer Danny Byrd.

I was commissioned by Hospital Records to direct this music video for Danny Byrd's double A side January 2013 single release "Grit" (with Roni Size) and "Love You Like This". Taking the idea of a double A side literally, I went down the unconventional route of using two tracks in one video. Also unconventionally, the video features start titles and end credits, and a fair bit of dialogue from the cast (you'll have to watch to see who they are!).

radio playlists with last years "Red Mist" not to mention his huge rave rework of Liquid's "Sweet Harmony" earlier this year.
Featuring the vocal dexterity of IK, replicating a classic 90s hook, "Ill Behavior" gets you right from the word go with its twisted looped intro preceding the mother of all buildups and a chunky west country drop.
Debuted exclusively by Annie Mac and jumped on early by Mistajam and Zane Lowe, this is drum + bass with maximum appeal. Taken from Danny's forthcoming album "Rave Digger" this is the first single and is a fitting statement of intent for a project which looks set to put a rocket up the backside of UK dance music.
